An executive committee meeting of AMMA members was held at Ernakulam on Oct.15,2008.Many important issues were discussed and major decisions were taken.A change in the policy of AMMA's insurance scheme was implemented and it was renewed as "New India Assurance Company".According to the present scheme,an allotment of upto Rs.50,000/- was fixed per head towards hospital expenses;an insurance sum of Rs.2,00,000/- towards expenses in case of accident death(as against the previous amount of Rs.1,30,000/-).A premium amount of Rs.4,80,332/-collected from 340 members was invested for this purpose.
As per the Central Government's renewal of insurance norms,those who avail of ayurveda,unani,homeopathy are entitled to receive only 25% of the bill amount as insurance claim.Also the claim will be valid only if treated in government hospitals.Those aged above 75 years will not be entitled to avail the benefit of accident insurance.In the recent past,Sukumari(Rs.12,970/-)and Bindu Varappuzha(Rs.9080/-)were benefitted by this scheme.
It was decided to recruit new and more members into the fold.Some of the forwarded applications are being considered.
Twenty-20 release
Twenty-20,Dileep's production in the name of AMMA,has been completed and the actor has made the announcement of its release to be slated on Oct.31.He remarked that the long-cherished dream of making a film for AMMA's cause has been fulfilled.He thanked the members for their kind cooperation and requested them to pray for its success at the theatres.
A Show on AMMA is being planned in the months of Feb/Mar,2009.Details will be disclosed in the next letter.
It was decided to conduct the 15th general body meeting alongwith the election of office bearers on June 28,2009 at Abad Plaza,Ernakulam.
