We know that Mohanlal, who was admitted into the civilian's voluntary army force Territorial Army (TA) after portraying a brave soldier in Keerthichakra (2006) and Kurukshetra (2008), was conferred the honorary title of Lieutenant Colonel last year. The actor has a fascination for the Armed forces and wanted to join the army after college, but became a star.
Now, as a part of his becoming a Lieutenant Colonel, he has to undergo training at the TA’s 122 Infantry Battalion of Madras Regiment in Kannur. Last week, the Commanding officer of the Kannur Regiment met the star and gave him the equipment necessary for the training. After the training, Mohanlal will have to go to New Delhi, where the Chief of Army Staff will commission him into Indian Army.
The Territorial Army is a voluntary part-time honorary civilian force that plays a key role in the defence of the country. It provides an opportunity to civilians to receive military training and also provides the country with a reserve force that can assist the regular army during operations.
