JC Daniel Award for I V Sasi

For his contributions to the whole Malayalam industry, director I V Sasi was conferred with J C Daniel Award 2014. He was selected by a 5-member jury, lead by writer/film maker, MT Vasudevan Nair. The other members are actor Madhu, film producer P V Gangadharan, cultural affairs secretary, Rani George, and chalachitra academy chairman, T Rajeevnath.

J C Daniel Award was instituted by the government of Kerala in 1992. The award is given in memorial of J C Daniel, the father of Malayalam cinema. The first J C Daniel Award was received by producer T E Vasudevan in 1992. Last year the award was given to writer and director M T Vasudevan Nair, who is now leading the jury.

I V Sasi started his career in 1970s. His movies like Aroodam, Anubhandham, Angadi, Thusharam, Thrishna etc were blockbusters. His last directed movie was Vellathooval in 2009. For his contributions, he has been rewarded with both National and State Awards. I V Sasi is married to actress Seema.
